'Osbournes: Reloaded' Ratings Respectable But Disappointing
April 3, 2009"Osbournes: Reloaded", the new Fox variety-style show starring Ozzy Osbourne, his wife/manager Sharon and their children Jack and Kelly, premiered Tuesday night (March 31) during prime time and delivered disappointing ratings. It attracted a respectable 9.3 million viewers at 9:30 p.m. — but lost most of its "American Idol" lead-in audience.
Among the big four networks, "Osbournes: Reloaded" overall finished fourth, or last, in the crowded 9:30 p.m. half-hour. According to E! Online, the show ran second among adults 18-49 who get a kick out of watching little kids pretending to be big salty sailors.
At least 16 Fox TV stations refused to air the Osbourne family's special after seeing the promos for the program and looking at the six-minute "sizzle reel" that the network sent their way, WashingtonPost.com reported.
An additional 10 Fox stations virtually killed "Osbournes: Reloaded" by moving it out of prime time and into the wee hours of the morning — as late as 1:35 a.m. the next day — all but guaranteeing that the special would take a ratings hit.
The program doesn't have another scheduled air date.
Only six episodes have been shot. Producers said they would wait and see how the show was received before making any more.
